Police Officer Pre-Employment Evaluations
Police Officer Pre-Employment Evaluations
Psychological evaluations have become standard practice for law enforcement and public safety applicants.
The purpose of the evaluation is to identify candidates with the appropriate mental ability to pass law enforcement training programs, emotional stability to withstand the stress associated with being a police officer, and the maturity to work within the law enforcement agency.
How We Can Help
Candidates that do not pass the psychological evaluation that is conducted by the law enforcement agency’s psychologist have the right to submit an independent medical opinion before a final hiring decision is made.
Dr. Gharibian specializes in conducting psychological evaluations of police officer candidates and is on the P.O.S.T. approved evaluator list. He completed part of his post-doctoral training as a law enforcement psychologist at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Dr. Gharibian is also a Level 1A Reserve Police Officer with the Glendale Police Department. His background and training as a police officer and police psychologist allow him to conduct a comprehensive and objective evaluation to determine if a candidate meets the psychological suitability standards established by P.O.S.T.
What to Expect
- You notify the law enforcement agency you are applying to that you have retained us to conduct a second-opinion evaluation.
- You provide the law enforcement agency with our contact information and they will send us a summary of your background packet and prior psychological evaluation report.
- We will review the records and schedule an interview and testing appointment.
- We will administer one or more questionnaires that assess the psychological domains that have been established by P.O.S.T.
- We will conduct an interview to gather additional information to complete the evaluation.
- After we complete the evaluation, we will write a comprehensive report summarizing our findings and submit them directly to your background investigator.
A second-opinion evaluation will determine if you meet the psychological suitability standards established by P.O.S.T. to work in law enforcement
